Choose Your Perfect Session Style
Not sure what you want? We can discuss a mix of styles during your consultation!
1. The Posed Studio Session
Colourful, Creative & Artistic This is the classic "newborn art" style.
In my Forest Hill studio, I have a treasure trove of props, from vintage beds and rustic baskets to tiny teddy bears. We will style the session based on your colour preferences, creating sleepy, curly poses that look like art pieces for your walls.
Location: Studio Only
Best Age: Under 14 Days
2. The Natural Lifestyle Session
Minimalist, Timeless & Connected If you prefer a "less is more" approach, this style strips away the props and colours to focus entirely on the connection between you and your baby. We focus on sweet interactions, baby-led posing, and the tiny details like eyelashes and toes. This is the ideal age for us to capture more of their personality, adorable facial expressions, and their emotional connection with parents and siblings.
Location: Studio OR In-Home
Best Age: Any age (Newborn to older babies)
3. The Storytelling Documentary Session
Unposed, Raw & Real. No posing, no pressure. I come to your home to capture the honest story of your baby's arrival. I document the bath time, the feeding on the couch, the siblings playing, and the beautiful chaos of real life. This is a time capsule of what your life felt like.
Location: In-Home Only
Best Age: Any age
Pricing
For Sessions in my studio:
The session fee is $250. This does NOT include any prints or digital files. However, it does include a $100 book-online-bonus-credit for you to put towards albums, wall arts, or a digital package if you make the booking via the online booking calendar below. Please CLICK HERE to see the Product Price Guide.
For Sessions in your home:
The session fee is $1490. This includes the photo session (aka me hanging out with your family for a couple of hours), high-resolution files of ALL the photos (50+), and a video slideshow of your photos. You can also add a beautiful 8"x8" album for $490 so that you can hold on to these special memories forever.
+ Optional Add-On: Baby Art
Want a touch of magic? Baby Art is a Digital Composite Artwork where I incorporate your sleeping baby into elaborate digital backgrounds (like fairy gardens or moonscapes). This is done safely as a digital composite and is available as an add-on to your session.
Most baby art poses requires your baby to be asleep, so it is best done when your baby is 14 days or younger. There are a few Baby Art setups that can work with wrapped older, more awake babies.
Baby Art is an optional add-on to your Posed Newborn Session. The creation of Baby Art is complimentary when you order it as a wall art of any size, or $100 each as an add-on to your digital package if you only want to order it as a digital file.
If you are interested in creating Baby Art, please let me know at the time of your booking, as it requires quite a bit of planning well before your session.
When is the Best Time to Photograph Your Baby?
Newborns grow quickly, and my approach changes depending on their development stage.
The Sleepy Stage (Under 14 Days)
Best For: Posed Studio & Baby Art.
Why: Within the first two weeks, newborns still retain some of their gorgeous traits from when they were in mum's womb. They are super flexible, still love to curl up tightly, has adorably squishy features, and may still have fine hair on their bodies (lanugo). They don't mind being naked as long as it's warm, and falls into a deep sleep easily. Therefore, at this age they can be safely posed in many super cute positions and props.
Booking Tip: Please make a tentative booking while you are still pregnant!
The Alert Stage (2 Weeks +)
Best For: Natural Lifestyle & Storytelling.
Why: Babies are more alert, stronger, and interested in eye contact. While they may not tolerate the "curly" naked poses, this is the perfect time to capture their emerging personality, open-eyed expressions, and emotional connection with siblings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I don't know which style to choose. Can we do a mix?
A: Absolutely! My "Natural" and "Posed" styles blend beautifully. We can start with clean, natural family shots and finish with artistic, posed setups for baby. However, "Storytelling" sessions are distinct and best kept as a dedicated session.
Q: Do I need to bring props for a Posed session?
A: No need! My Forest Hill studio is fully stocked with colourful wraps, baskets, and accessories. We will plan the styling together before you arrive.
Q: My house is messy or dark. Can we still do a Home session?
A: Yes! Storytelling sessions are about real life, mess included! For lighting, I am experienced in finding the best window light in any home. If you are worried, a Studio session is a stress-free alternative.
Q: I can't leave my house for medical reasons, but I still want a posed session. Is there anything you can do to help?
A: Yes. If your baby is 2 weeks or younger, I can bring some props and lighting equipment to set up a mobile studio in your home.
Q: Do you travel to the Eastern Suburbs?
A: Yes, I am a local! I regularly serve families in Vermont, Blackburn, Nunawading, Mitcham, Ringwood, and Glen Waverley.
