NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY MELBOURNE

Certificates of completion in Newborn Photography, CPR & Choking First Aid, and Infection Control Training - COVID 19 for Jina Zheng. Melbourne Newborn Photographer.

For the safety of your precious newborn baby, it is super important that you choose a photographer who is an experienced and qualified newborn photographer.

The Certificate in Newborn Photography consists of 20 subjects pertaining to Birth, Newborn Health & Safety, and Workplace Health & Safety.

I have also completed an Infant CPR and First Aid Certificate, Covid-19 Infection Control Training Certificate, and am fully immunised with all vaccines recommended by health.vic.gov.au for people working with babies and children: Whooping Cough, measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis A & B, and seasonal flu vaccines. 

NEWBORN PORTRAIT SESSIONS IN THE STUDIO

The session fee is $250. This does NOT include any prints or digital files. Newborns grow and develop very quickly. To ensure the safety and comfort of your precious newborn, my approach to your session will be different depending on their age and stage of development.

NEWBORNS 14 DAYS OR YOUNGER

Within the first two weeks, newborns still retain some of their gorgeous traits from when they were in mum's womb. They are super flexible, still love to curl up tightly, has adorably squishy features, and may still have fine hair on their bodies (lanugo). They don't mind being naked as long as it's warm, and falls into a deep sleep easily. Therefore, at this age they can be safely posed in many super cute positions and props. 

If you love these squishy curly posed Newborn Portaits, it is very important that you make a tentative booking when you're pregnant. We will confirm the booking when you are close to your due date, and organise a time when both parents and siblings can attend.

NEWBORNS 2 WEEKS OR OLDER

When most babies reach 2 weeks of age, they will become a lot more alert. They are now able to focus her eyes on people and objects, and enjoy looking around.
 
By this age, they are used to being clothed and swaddled, hence less content when naked. They have become less flexible, less sleepy, and may startle wake easily. Therefore, for babies over two weeks of age, some of the naked curly womb-like positions are harder to achieve, and may no longer be safe. 
 
However, this is the ideal age for us to capture more of their personality, adorable facial expressions, and their emotional connection with parents and siblings.

Sometimes getting out of the house with a newborn baby is hard, especially after a caesarian or if baby has a young toddler sibling. A newborn session in your home is a relaxed way to photograph your family's new arrival. 

A Newborn Session in your home can be a Posed Session, or a more natural Story-telling Session.

POSED NEWBORN SESSION IN YOUR HOME

 
If your baby is 2 weeks or younger, and you would like some posed sleepy squishy studio-style newborn photos, but can't leave your house due to medical or practical reasons, I can bring a small number of props to create some gorgeous posed newborn portraits in your home. 
 
Your family (& sibling) photos will be more interactive (lifestyle / storytelling) in your home environment.

STORYTELLING SESSION IN YOUR HOME

Storytelling session is very different from a posed studio-style session. 

In this session, our aim is to tell an honest story of your baby's arrival in your family, and the love that surrounds him(her). We will photograph your baby in his(her) favourite everyday onesie, snuggled in a blanket grandma made. We will capture your baby asleep in your arms, or awake looking at you with all the love and trust in the world. We may even tell the story of your baby's bath while his(her) big sister looks on. 

Storytelling session is suitable for newborns and babies of any age, and is an amazing way to preserve memories that are real and meaningful to your family for a lifetime.

BABY ART 

Baby art is a composite image that incorporated your baby into a beautiful and elaborate digital artwork. 

Most baby art poses requires your baby to be asleep, so it is best done when your baby is 14 days or younger. There are a few Baby Art setups that can work with wrapped older, more awake babies. 

Baby Art is an optional add-on to your Newborn Session. The creation of Baby Art is complimentary when you order it as a wall art of any size, or $100 each as an add-on to your digital package if you only want to order it as a digital file. 

If you are interested in creating Baby Art, please let me know at the time of your booking, as it requires quite a bit of planning well before your session.
