Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’re likely preparing to welcome a new addition to your family. You might even be home already with a tiny human and a lot of questions.
As a baby photographer for first-time parents in Melbourne, I know that the to-do list feels endless. You want to document these fleeting early days, but you want images that feel like you. If you are drawn to lifestyle newborn photos in Melbourne with a warm, boho soul, you are in the right place.
This is the question I hear most! Traditionally, posed photography required babies to be under 14 days old to stay in those curly, sleepy positions.
However, for this warm and boho lifestyle style, we have much more flexibility. While the sweet spot is typically between 5 and 21 days old, my focus is on connection rather than rigid posing. If your baby is 4 or 5 weeks old, we can still capture beautiful, soulful images of them interacting with you in that soft, golden light.
I always tell my Melbourne parents to clear their morning. A typical session takes 2 to 3 hours.
Does that mean we are shooting for 180 minutes straight? Not at all! A huge chunk of that time is reserved for the baby's schedule. We stop for feeds, nappy changes, and those much-needed extra cuddles. My goal is a relaxed, boho environment where no one feels rushed, especially not you.
This is the #1 worry for first-time parents, and I want to let you in on a secret: It’s totally okay if your baby is awake!
Some of the most beautiful boho lifestyle images happen when a baby is staring up at their parents or stretching their tiny limbs. If they become fussy, we simply stop, settle them, and wait. My approach is baby-led, meaning we follow their lead instead of a rigid script. I promise that we will still get stunning photos whether they're sleepy & curly, or wide-eyed & curios.
Yes absolutely! For my lifestyle boho style shoots, I focus on a timeless, earthy aesthetic that takes the stress out of styling.
I provide a full boho studio experience designed to make your session effortless. My studio is filled with tactile, organic textures like heavy knit blankets, soft textured throws, and hand-picked wraps. We use natural elements like rattan furniture, plush cushions, and pillows to create a cozy, "lived-in" feel for your family.
You don't need to worry about what to wear, either. My curated Client Wardrobe includes:
For Mums: A collection of gorgeous, flowing boho dresses. These are mostly free-sized and specifically chosen to flatter post-natal figures so you can feel beautiful and comfortable.
For Newborns: Delicate, soft knitted outfits and wraps in neutral, earthy tones.
For Partners and Siblings: Classic soft linen shirts for men and boys, along with pretty dresses for girls.
By providing these high-quality pieces, I ensure that your gallery has a cohesive, high-end look that highlights your family’s connection rather than distracting patterns or colors. During our pre-session consultation, we will chat about which pieces from the wardrobe best suit your style.
In a city as vibrant as Melbourne, your home and your life are unique. Lifestyle photography isn't about stiff poses or fancy props. It is about:
The way your baby fits in the crook of your arm.
Soft textures and warm, golden light that feels like love.
The raw, honest emotion of becoming a family for the first time.
The early weeks disappear in a blink. My boutique boho studio is located in Forest Hill, right in the heart of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
I love welcoming families from my local community, including neighbors in Blackburn, Mt Waverley, and Croydon. Whether you are just around the corner or coming from afar, I would love to help you tell your family’s first chapter with a warm, boho touch.
When you get in touch, please let me know if you prefer our signature boho style so we can start planning your dream wardrobe and setup!
