I was the family photographer on Channel 9's Parental Guidance Show

Have you watched the new reality TV show Parental Guidance? 

Keep a lookout for me! I was the photographer chosen to photograph the 'attachment parenting' family. 

When I heard from my sister (who heard from her friend who recognised me on TV) that the show has been aired, my family huddled up on the couch that night to watch 'Parental Guidance' on 9NOW. 

I have to admit that I have no idea that there are so many different parenting styles, so the show is eye-opening as well as entertaining. 

After watching the show (only 3 episodes are released so far), I realised that the producers have done an amazing job matching photographers to the different families! 

My photography philosophy is: 

* I don't force kids to do things. I suggest games and follow their interests. If they said no to a game, we simply move on to one they like. 

* I observe their needs. If a child is shy and needs time, or tired and needs a break, I will give that child as much time as he/she needed if we're not under time pressure. 

* I'm not afraid of chaos. In fact, I love a bit of chaos. Sometimes chaos creates awesome unexpected photographic opportunities.

* I believe that the journey is as important as the destination. It is so so important to me that the kids have fun because that's when their eyes sparkle and they giggle and belly laugh, instead of just 'saying cheese'. 

Lara's family was a perfect match for my photographic style. They were sweet and lovely, full of love and laughter. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and photographing them that day.
